Purpose

This explains how to get your computer setup with Microsoft's Visual C++ 2005 Express IDE (integrated development environment) and compiler. It also explains how to get to the wxPack wizard from within Visual C++ 2005 Express.

Steps

Download Visual C++ 2005 Express from Microsoft. It's free.
Download the Windows Platform SDK.
Follow the tutorial here to integrate the Windows Platform SDK into Visual C++ 2005 Express.
Install wxPack and it will integrate wxWidgets right into Visual C++ 2005 Express.
Open Visual C++ 2005 Express and select 'File->New->Project...' from the menu.
Choose the wxWidgets project type.
Follow the wizard to create your new project.

Using Visual Studio to watch the outputs window. All of the dlls will be listed as they are loaded. This is a bit tedious but it will tell you exactly what ones are important.
Using Dependency Walker to view the exact list of dependencies.
